Innocence and the Winter Witch

One day Innocence went unwatched
Her mother and father and nursemaid
Where no where to be seen
In the courtyard where she played

Her friends were not imaginary
The gossamer beings dancing there
Fair of face and fair of hair
Glittering wings twirling there

But there was one creature
Who was not so fair
Her hair was snarled with ice
And her ragged clothes were stained

"Come with me, come with me
Come see the ice fairies and the
Wildberry Trees" she crooned
Through Long teeth in a craggy mouth

Innocence knew nothing of cold
In the mystical castle of everlasting summer
So she took the creatures hand
And started off into the ice wilder land

But the spirits of light who guarded poor Innocence
Saw the Winter Witch for what she was
And snatched her away, covering her face
As they fell upon the witch

Innocence never knew
What happened to the ice fairy
But she hoped she was happy
As she played the days away
